OTA

Alpaconnect supports Over the Air (OTA) functionality for remotely updating device firmware. Updating a firmware .bin file means you can update software or firmware remotely over a wireless network, which is what “Over-The-Air” refers to.

Key Features of OTA

  • Remote updates: Update software over the internet or wireless network without physical access to the device.
  • Mass deployment: Efficiently deploy updates to many devices at once.
  • Easy maintenance: Apply bug fixes, security patches, and new features without on-site visits.

IoT controllers like APC Link and various sensors and actuators are often installed in hard-to-reach locations or deployed in large numbers.

Model

  • Represents the type of device. Example: DMIC-50M, v1.0.0
  • Update files can be managed differently for each model.

OTA Patch (OtaPatch)

  • The update file that can be installed on a device.
  • Contains firmware version and hardware version information.
  • Organizations can create and register patches for the models they use.

OTA Deployment (OtaPatchDeployment)

  • The record of actually deploying an OTA patch to a specific device.
  • Records deployment time, completion status, cancellation status, etc.
